For those who wish to know too much.

Stunted by conversation, I’ve determined that my listening skills have enabled some to think that I am a simple, innocent, and somewhat inexperienced individual who may have trouble empathizing with their “larger-than-life” issues.

This short synopsis will primarily serve as an emotional outlet for myself - I once thought I had no secrets, but I’m beginning to realize I surely do and I’d rather not have them.

I have a fever. Clothes are never necessary.

Reading an entire book in one night just to write a two page book review (due Friday), but I’m actually extremely excited to see what Mrs. Catherine Cox has to say.

Title: The Judaic Other in Dante, the Gawain Poet, and Chaucer

Thesis: This study considers how Jewish Biblical texts and traditions were understood and interpreted by early Christian exegetes, and how these contiguous, and often conflicting, interpretive traditions inform and provoke the ecclesiastical and popular literature of the late medieval era. This demonstrates how conflicting aspects of Jewish and Christian religious identity are expressed in and through the authors’ major texts: Commedia, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Canterbury Tales.

Should be an excellent read. Now to get my ass in gear…

Vampires took my blood and thus burst my vein causing me minor pain in my left arm for most of the afternoon.

Graded Hebrew during colloquium, even though I should’ve been listening to lecture.

Called my grandparents and while I was pacing around outside, decided to slip my knee through the railing and, of course, got my leg stuck.

Used all of my strength to pull my stick of a leg from between the two bars and limped inside.

Looked at the computer to find a message from a gentleman on campus asking for my hand in some sort of weird coffee date.

Turned him down by explaining I need no more love interests in my life at the moment. Two men is already two too many. My heart is already torn.

Anywho, he understood, or at least pretended to.

Days like these are why I live.

The shirt reads: The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a little girl.
Busy day today full of classes, tutees, books, and essays.
09.12.12 /11:57/ 1
Despite waking up at 6am this morning to come babysit, today has been pretty wonderful.
Tenneson and I made a trip to the library and local bookstore where I picked up a copy of Ham on Rye (an early birthday present for myself). We then had a nice lunch out at his favorite mexican place. Youngsters can be tons of fun.
Now I sit on this overly lavish deck built by my disgustingly wealthy uncle, who is currently on business in Boston, trying to enjoy today’s beautiful weather.

Spent most of the day nude in this chair reading various things - mostly Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson, along with The Akedah (a commentary), and a myriad of poetry from Charles Bukowski to Gerard Hopkins.
Also began to watch the documentary, Bukowski: Born Into This, which I’ll finish tonight after my interview.
Twas a good day and I expect an even better night filled with more reading. Woo!

Well, I’m home.
Had a most lovely afternoon with the sweetest bearded man I know. I miss his company already.
But, now I’m back in boring old Danville. Sitting here in my oversized satin pajamas and listening to Wavves.
06.24.12 /21:47/ 4

This is what happens when Alyssa is at work: I sit around and take pictures of my terribly 80s outfit.

Had an awesome time with a ton of wonderful people these past few days.

One last trip tomorrow (which I am terribly excited for) and then I’ll make my way back home for a long-awaited job interview.

Took advantage of this cool and rather cloudy day to hoop in my undies.
Think I might be getting a cold…I’ll have to run to the store to pick up some zinc.
As for tonight, I’ll be reading The Akedah: The Binding of Isaac, by Louis A. Berman.
06.18.12 /20:54/ 9

The title explains it.

I’ve got the whole house to myself tonight.

So, I will run around naked, hula-hoop in the living room, smoke tons of cigarettes, blast The Beta Band, and make myself some damn good jelly-glazed chicken with peanut sauce (recommended by my dear and brilliant friend, goobersnotpants). Wish he were here to enjoy it with me, but I’m sure I’ll have a good enough time by my lonesome.

Also on the list: watch the entirety of John Adams, the HBO series, which is so wonderfully done.
